Of course, I had to start off with the classic Alice Cooper song!! I think the Muppets add a little "class" though. So, yes, school is FINALLY finished for the year....and I've been thinking hard about one thing. Who is happier at the end of a school year? The students? OR the teachers? This year I'm in the position of being BOTH a teacher and a student. And I kind of have to say........I think teachers are the happiest!!  At least that's how I feel right now....though I'm certainly glad to be done with grad school for a few months. When I look back on the year, it's crazy to me what has changed. Last year at this time, I was low, depressed, a bit broken. I was all but packed to move home. And then I got a phone call from a man who would change my life....A year later, I'm in Ostrava and, sadly, Honza has passed on. But I'll forever be grateful for his belief in me. Two weekends ago, I was working diligently to finish up my last paper for grad school. And as I do, when I'm in the middle of something important, I decided to bake something. I don't know...I guess it de-stresses me. Anyhoodle, I baked up some ricotta strawberry cupcakes with chocolate buttercream frosting and sprinkles. And, because it was sunny and hot out, I decided to make some potato salad as well. And check out the little potato that was in my potato bag!!!!!! An almost perfect heart....and really I DO love my carbs :) Both the cupcakes and the potato salad were delicious AND I finished my paper that earned me an A+- see baking works!!

OK- so I've finally broken down and decided to join everyone else in the world and start a blog. I'm not happy with some changes on the the travel site I've been using and as most of my posts are not about "travel", but rather everyday stuff, I decided it was time to leave traveljournals. I'm not set on my  design yet and I envision it changing over the next few weeks, so please bear(or is it bare?!?) with me. I imagine I'll put up posts about travel, teaching, and just random thoughts. I'm not trying to change the interwebs...just trying to keep friends and family up to date on my life here in Ostrava. If there is anything in particular you'd like to see here, let me know!! So, with that said, here we go....
